Day 1

Reception is more than a little spotty on the trail of course, so I will do the best I can.

I started my hike at Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia. I signed in there to register my hike. The falls are about 729 feet high and they are the largest cascading water fall east of the Mississippi River. Climbed up to the top.

From there, I hiked to Springer Mountain, which has the trails first white blaze on it. The weather was great and the air smelled fresh.

I spent my first night at Stover Creek Shelter. Went to bed as soon as I made camp. Hike all day with a guy from Iowa and Indiana.

I also reflected on life and the difficulties I had over the last few weeks. All I know is I am grateful to have a great family, the best girlfriend and some amazing friends who helped me and were there for me.
