I really just wanted to sleep in today. That did not happen though. I got up and started hiking. It was a nice day to hike, I pushed through feeling tired. I made it to Wildcat Shelter for the night. It was a little over 17 miles today.
As I was hiking there was a big racer snake on the side of the trail that I did not see, until I passed it. They are not venomous, but they will come after you if you mess with them. I do not mess with any of the wildlife, I prefer not to disturb anything.
Left New Jersey this morning and entered New York. From on top of the ridgeline, I could see New York City way off in the distance.
The hiking today included some rock climbing, some rocky ridge walks and climbing a few rebar ladders up rock. Nice views.
Towards the end of the hike I as no other hikers came close to a creamery that makes it’s own ice cream. So you know I walked the .2 miles off trail to get there. It made me feel better.
Set up the tent and cleaned leaves away from the spring to get some water. It is warm, but started a small but smokey campfire to help keep bugs away at dinner time.
I hope you’re filtering that spring water, J. 😉

Ah yes, the bugs. They also love visiting the creamery for ice cream… ice cream eaters!
Perhaps the racer snake was sending PC a message.
The view of New York City from the trail is a shocking sight. It made me think of the eye of Soren. Watch out for the Orcs?!?
