Day 39

What a great day. I am stealth camping tonight with Clipper, formerly known as Godzilla. Camped about 2 miles south of Moreland Gap Shelter. Have a nice little campfire going tonight. Today’s hike was about 17 miles long. It was pretty relaxed today and the scenery was different.

Had sunny skies all day long. Hiked in shorts most of the day. There was a climb first thing this morning, but otherwise the terrain was gently rolling by my description anyways.

Took a short sidetrack to go see Jones Falls. A scenic waterfall and a place where I refilled on drinking water. In the City I enjoy good tap water, but the cold water out here just tastes so much better.

A little while later, an owl was observed, as it observed us.

Sometime today I passed 400 miles on the Appalachian Trail. Today, I reached 411 miles (420 miles including the Approach Trail at the start).

Ran into Nomad and Slider on the trail today. Slider has a 3 pound plastic trombone with her, hence the trail name. Maybe we will hear her play it someday, word on the trail is she is pretty good with it.

Miss everyone! But I am also tickled still to be able to have this experience and I am grateful for all my supporters.

Sounds like you had a great day on the trail, J. Amazing what good weather will do for ya! Alas, we have snow in our forecast again for this weekend… 6″-10″ is what they’re talking about. I hope the forecasters are wrong! Enjoy the warmer, dry weather and dry trails my friend!

Thank you guys. It is also a lot of stubbornness. One foot in front of the other. All the cool people hiking and in the towns and back at home really helps too.
