Woke up this morning and saw a acorn, that looked like a face looking at me. just outside my tent. Looks friendly enough. What do you think?
Hiked down The Priest this morning, dropping about 3,000 feet. This means there then was a climb of about 3,000 feet to the top of Three Ridges Mountain. It was a hot, humid and rocky climb up. It took a few hours to get up. It was a day to govern ones pace and monitor fluid intake for sure.
Towards the end of the day, had a hike of 5 miles or so through a boulder field. Slow going, but still easier than this morning.
By the end of the day, I hiked about 19.5 miles to a campsite on Rock Point. It has a great view and all of the effort today was worth it. Thunderstorms were predicted tonight, so far nothing. There was some distant thunder, but it has long since stopped.
I thought about the positive comments I have received over the last week today. That is how I kept my mind busy and happy today. Had so.e chats with a few other thru hikers as we cameled up on water at water sources. Cameling up is drinking a lot of water at the source and then refilling the water bottles. Sometimes the water bottles are not enough.
